Custom Propagation

Do you have special memories of a rose? Perhaps it grew in your grandmother’s garden, or your Father planted it for your Mother on a special occasion. Or maybe you remember the fragrance while playing near it on a summer evening.

 

Yet perhaps this rose is now old and worn out. Or you don’t know its name. Perhaps you would like to share it with family and friends. You can do this and we can help. We can graft bud eyes of your exact rose on to young rootstocks and thereby multiply and preserve this rose for you and your descendants.

 

Before we do this we need to know a few things. You must make sure this is an old rose that is not under patent or protected by a trademark. (Please see our sections on Patents and Trademarks). We also cannot propagate roses purchased from a florist. First of all these roses are usually patent protected and it rare for a “florist rose” to do well in your garden as a plant. All other roses we are happy to custom bud for you.

 

Here are the details. You provide canes which are relatively young, have no side shoots and preferably don’t have a flowers past its peak, or where there is just a bud showing only a little color. This must be provided between late June and late August. We always try to bud at least ten plants. You must pay a deposit and your roses will be ready 18 months later. Then you will pay the remaining amount. The cost for per rose is 15 Euro. You must pay for all the plants that succeed. If there are 10 you pay 150 Euro, if there are 5 you pay 75 Euro and so on.
